Gigi Tsontos, WTLC
Gigi Tsontos, Chief Executive Officer, of the WTLC received her Master’s in Social work from Columbia University in 1999, after spending two years serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali West Africa. She worked in the child welfare services for county services and non profits for 10 years and moved to direct homeless services and sheltering in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. In 2012, she received a Master’s in Public Administration from San Diego State University and combined this with her clinical skills to work on program development and advancement for underserved populations.
Gigi is experienced with victim’s advocacy through her work as an undergraduate at the University of Kansas and throughout her career. She has extensive program development and implementation knowledge, strategic management and planning experience, and diverse leadership education and understanding that catalysts her to the next stages of work.
During Gigi’s tenure, WTLC has revamped their model to work as survivor driven, full family mobile model to combat the impacts of family violence and human trafficking. Most recently Gigi’s passion for animals led to opening WTLC’s shelter program to victims and their pet family members.
Gigi is a licensed clinical social worker who gives back to her community by mentoring two young professionals through the National Network of Social Work Managers, serving on committees for the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, and continues to serve on several committees that work to further the movement to end domestic violence. Her true passion is animals and if you know Gigi you know that she and her husband have five furry children and are advocates for animal rights.
