Buffalo Soldier Exhibition Opens

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANAHEIM, CA, January 29, 2018 – Muzeo will host the exhibition The Buffalo Soldier Experience from February 3 through March 11 during Black History Month. The museum will offer free admission on Saturday, February 3 to celebrate the 38th Black History Parade and Cultural Faire in Anaheim, where over 8000 attendees are expected.

“Educational achievements and accomplishments of the Buffalo Soldiers are just the positive motivating force we want students and the community to see in this historical exhibit,” noted exhibit curator Bobby McDonald, a descendent of a Buffalo Soldier, whose father and several uncles were part of the 9th Cavalry during WWII.

The Buffalo Soldier Experience traces the historical contributions of Black men and women in the United States Armed Forces, beginning with the 9th and 10th Calvary Regiments who roamed the Western Frontier. Continuing through many major wars and conflicts throughout our American history, the exhibition also highlights the ways in which Buffalo Soldier military history intersected with the growth of the nation.

New Executive Director Josh Spears remarked, “We are honored to have curator Bobby McDonald and the Buffalo Soldiers here at Muzeo. The bravery and struggles of the Buffalo Soldiers not only paved the path for black communities in multiple ways, but many other ethnic communities. Come to Muzeo and learn more.”

Sponsors include OC Black Chamber of Commerce and Disney Resort who will provide admission for Anaheim school children. Special thanks also go to UPS, OC Dept. of Education, 100 Black Men of Orange County, United States Postal Service, Explorer Studios, Buffalo Soldiers Mounted Cavalry Group, 9th and 10th Cavalry Association and Veterans Legal Institute.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for military and seniors, $5 for children 4-12 and free for children 3 and under. Tickets are available for purchase at www.muzeo.org/tickets.
