ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 7, 2019) – Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center showcases 65 artworks from the private collection of Cheech Marin, actor, director, writer, musician and humanitarian, in the new exhibition Papel Chicano Dos. This major exhibition features 24 established and emerging artists, a small theater and one amazing car. Dating from the late 1980’s to present day, the artists’ work demonstrates a myriad of techniques from watercolor and aquatint to paste and mixed media. Their iconic imagery has influences ranging from pre-Hispanic symbols and post-revolutionary nationalistic Mexican motives to the Chicano movement of the 1960’s and contemporary urban culture.

Featured artists are Carlos Almaraz, Charles “Chaz” Bojorquez, Pablo Andres Cristi, Carlos Donjuan, Gaspar Enriquez, Sonya Fe, Emmanuel Galvez, Margaret Garcia, Roberto Gil de Montes, CiCi Segura Gonzalez, Raul Guerrero, Roberto Gutierrez, Adan Hernandez, Benito Huerta, Leo Limon, Gilbert “Magu” Lujan, Cesar A. Martinez, Glugio “Gronk” Nicondra, Wenceslao Quiroz, Frank Romero, Sonia Romero, Ricardo Ruiz, John Valadez and Vincent Valdez.

The exhibition also features one special 1950 Chevy coupe called Our Family Car. With its multi-colored flames and cultural accents emblazoned on the car’s yellow body, it’s a rolling homage to the lowrider car culture. Personalized by the late Chicano artist Gilbert “Magu” Lujan, the Chevy is now owned by Paul Dunlap of Fullerton.

Papel Chicano Dos runs through July 14, 2019 and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Tickets are available at the Muzeo ticket counter or online at www.muzeo.org.

As part of the run of the exhibition, Muzeo will also host Proud to Be Me: A Celebration of Chicano Culture on Saturday, April 13. This family-friendly street festival will feature classic cars, food, fashion and crafts and will be free to the public.

Muzeo is a centerpiece of Anaheim’s Center City and features a variety of changing exhibitions, local artists, special events, community classes and festivals. Muzeo encompasses Anaheim’s original Carnegie Library built in 1908 and visitors can tour a collection of Anaheim history within its walls.
