Join us for Mothers Day, as Art & Jazz highlights female musicians who overcame barriers and shined in jazz. Mary Lou Williams was a legendary pianist/composer/arranger, Melba Liston trombonist, Blanch Calloway band arranger/composer/singer, Vi Redd saxophonist/vocalist, guitarist Mary Osborne, and the International Sweethearts of Rhythm a touring band made up of women breaking racial barriers during the 40’s with band leader Anna Mae Winburn.
