About Anaheim Public Library

Anaheim Public Library promotes literacy, lifelong learning, and a love of reading through traditional print materials as well as virtual services. There are ten Library branches serving the City of Anaheim and surrounding communities, including the Anaheim Heritage Center which houses our local history collections, and a new self-service branch at ARTIC transportation center. There is also a Bookmobile that serves the Community Development Block Grant neighborhoods in the city.

About Jane Newell

Jane Newell is the Heritage Services Manager for the Anaheim Public Library. She has two Master degrees, one in Library and Information Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and the second in Archives and Museum Management from Duquesne University. She joined the Anaheim Public Library in 1993, where she manages the Anaheim Heritage Center and has implemented major projects to preserve and make accessible Anaheim’s rich history and culture for future generations. This extensive local history collection supports research at all levels, from third grade reports to scholarly books and journal articles to historic anniversary celebrations. Digital Anaheim provides worldwide access to over 2,000 historic Anaheim photographs through the library’s online catalog and Calisphere. She also oversees the preservation and programming of three historic buildings: the Carnegie Library at the MUZEO complex; and, at Founders’ Park, the Mother Colony and Woelke-Stoffel Houses, as well as an agricultural exhibit in the newly constructed Carriage House. In addition, as a member of the Neighborhood Preservation team, she works with the community to document and preserve Anaheim’s historic resources.
