Hourly Pay: $18

Weekly Hours: 32 – 40

Shifts: 10:30am – 5:30pm

Days: Wednesday – Sunday

Internship Duration: 6 Months

Museum Preparator Position Summary:

The Installation/Preparator Specialist will work directly with executive and

curatorial staff to perform all duties related to exhibition preparation. This includes:

installation, de-installation, packing/unpacking/crating of art objects, shipping,

receiving artwork, coordinating necessary staff and materials, the organization of

art storage areas and the entire facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more
  • Submit supply requests as needed
  • Work with support staff on installation
  • Assist with gallery de-install, installation, art handling and displays
  • Assist with planning, logistics and execution of exhibits change over
  • Meet with program and exhibit staff to identify needs and logistics
  • Set up and break down program and event equipment (may include some evenings and weekends)
  • Keep the galleries, storage and work areas, and public areas orderly, clean and in proper working order

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in Museum preparation and exhibit installation/de-installation
  • Experience working with a curatorial team and executive staff
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Impeccable organizational skills
